Slave to Child

The shift from slave to child is one of unlearning much of what we have learned and so it cannot be done passively and yet, only God can do it. Because it is complex and layered, it requires multiple elements. The intellectual element is a clear and Biblical teaching, together with thinking that is informed by multiple disciplines. The Behavioral element is the practice or action taken by the congregation each week to reinforce that week’s teaching. Most of these will seem counter-intuitive. The Social element is the immersion of each listener into small groups, or communities of grace, that are practicing the new behaviors together. Finally, there is a public witness where listeners practice their new beliefs in public – at school, at work, in business – treating each other in ways that prove the validity of the series and bear witness to the work of God in their own lives.
